DUBLIN – His Excellency Mr. Yuriy Filatov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ireland kicked-off his Embassy’s celebration of ‘Russia Day’ – a national holiday. Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Embassy was forced to host the celebrations online. 12 June is annually celebrated as the Day of Russia, or ‘Russia Day’ and is observed as a national holiday.
Today’s online celebrations began with the National Anthem of the Russian Federation followed by a welcome speech by the Russian Ambassador to Ireland, His Excellency Mr. Yuriy Filatov.
Deputy Fergus O’Dowd TD gave an address in his role as the Convenor of the Russian-Irish Interparliamentary liaison Groupon the occasion of Russia Day.
Debbie Deegan, the head of the Irish Charity Organization «To Children with Love» also gave her remarks online.
After a showing of the Russian flag, Ms. Valeria Rassolenko of the Russian Embassy in Ireland sang solo with a special song about her Motherland, Russia.
Tonight, the Russian Embassy will be specially illuminated with the colours of the Russian flag to mark the celebrations.
