Minister for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne, spoke at Ibec Brussels’ online St. Patrick’s Day event earlier today. The event covered a wide array of topics of relevance to Ireland and Irish businesses in the EU.
In his remarks, the Minister discussed items currently on the agenda at EU level, including the implications of the Protocol on Ireland and Northern Ireland and the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement. The Minister also outlined Ireland’s work on the EU’s digital policies, the European Green Deal and the Union’s economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking about the event the Minister said:
“I was delighted to take part in today’s event and to provide Ibec members with the Government’s perspective on recent developments at EU level. Despite the challenges we face at present, it is important that businesses are aware of the significant progress that is being made on key projects like the European Green Deal and the creation of a fully-functioning European Digital Single Market. I was very happy to discuss these subjects and more alongside distinguished panelists including Commissioner Mairead McGuinness and MEP Seán Kelly.”
Today’s event was organised by Ibec’s Brussels Office and was held virtually, as part of Ibec’s programme of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
